Look at What's Happenng In Sacramento

Dateline Sacramento

Gone, but not forgotten

SACRAMENTO – Even though state legislators are on break in their home districts this month, please don’t take a vacation from involvement in the legislative process. When they return the week of August 7 for the home stretch of the session, legislators will be casting votes on key bills that impact your families.

Scheduled key votes in August include SB 1441 (special rights for homosexuals) and SB 1437, the blatant sexual orientation education bill, on the Assembly floor. SB 1471 (sex-education restrictions) will be heard in the Assembly Appropriations Committee on August 9, and two other major pro-homosexual bills, AB 606 and AB 1056, are in the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Legislator contact information can be found on the CFC Web site. If you don’t know who your legislators are, this government site can help. Remind Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger that thousands of California families are counting on his vetoes to protect parental rights and children! By calling (916) 445-2841, you can sound off to the governor on legislation. Listen for the prompt and follow the directions to quickly express your support or opposition for key bills like SB 1437.

Spread the word and alert your friends and family about SB 1437! This informational flyer from California Family Council is ideal for passing out to friends and including in church bulletins.

Texas abortion law under scrutiny

Abbott asked whether some abortions are murder

Lawmaker says murder charges not appropriate.

AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF
Thursday, July 13, 2006

Could Texas doctors face murder charges for performing late-term abortions or abortions on minors whose parents have not consented?

House State Affairs Committee Chairman David Swinford, R-Dumas, doesn't think so, but he's concerned that's how a statewide prosecutors group is interpreting legislation passed last year. Swinford has asked Attorney General Greg Abbott to weigh in with a formal opinion.

The question of whether murder charges should be on the table has even surprised some anti-abortion activists who pushed for the legislation in question.

"We certainly think that aborting a viable third-trimester baby is the killing of a child, but this is the first I have heard of anyone interpreting it to be a capital offense," said Kyleen Wright, president of the Texans For Life Coalition. READ MORE

Judicial Restraint and the Homosexual agenda ...

By Andrea Lafferty
Executive Director, Traditional Values Coalition

July 12, 2006 - Defenders of the institution of traditional marriage were encouraged by three state court decisions in the past week. The Supreme Courts of Georgia and New York came down on the side of judicial restraint in legal challenges to bans on same-sex marriage. And, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court actually ruled correctly on a marriage amendment.

In Georgia, the court ruled that a marriage amendment passed by 77% of the voters in 2004 was constitutional and overturned a lower court decision violating the clearly expressed will of the people. Georgians have the right to amend their own constitution to define marriage as a one-man, one-woman union.

In New York, homosexual activists had challenged a ban on same-sex marriage, claiming that the New York Constitution mandated such marriages. The 4-2 decision declared that there is no constitutional right in New York for homosexuals to marry. The court also noted that such decisions should be in the hands of the legislature, not the courts. The New York Court of Appeals displayed judicial restraint, a welcome change from judicial activists who routinely impose their political agendas upon the American people. Senator Diane Feinstein (D-California) wants to de-fund successful and promising abstinence programs

Senator Diane Feinstein (D-California) wants to de-fund successful and promising abstinence programs, and your Senators need to know that her scheme is unacceptable.

In 2003, in a bold effort to combat the international crisis of AIDS, President Bush committed $15 billion to fight the disease around the world through a program called the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The results have been astounding, and have provided hope to millions of at-risk people around the world.

By the year 2007, approximately $4 billion will go to the Abstinence, Be Faithful and only then use of condoms (ABc) program which promotes abstinence as a key behavioral method of preventing the spread of AIDS. The program, modeled after methods used by faith-based organizations in the United States, has seen a dramatic decline in the transmission of AIDS in countries including Kenya, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia.

Senator Feinstein wants to end that effort by offering an amendment to strip funding for Abstinence and Be Faithful programs from Foreign Operations appropriations. Your Senators must hear from you that attempts to de-fund successful AIDS prevention programs that teach abstinence will deny those most in need of the programs that have had the best results.

Help keep this vital funding. Contact your Senator today!

Take Action!

Please call your Senators and let them know that you support the ABc program which has led to lives being saved in Africa where AIDS continues to rage. Tell them to vote against amendments in foreign operations appropriations that would strip funding for abstinence education programs.

Please pray for the Defeat of SB 1437

If you are unfamiliar with this bill:

Go to Google and put in SB 1437 and read, if it passes, what will be mandated by each school district and textbook publisher at EVERY grade level from K-12 in teaching about the homosexual/lesibian lifestyle and their positive influence in our history.

I called and it took less than 1 minute to call and give our opinion of this horrendous bill that has passed the legislature.

Urge the governor to veto this bill!! Please call the governor's switchboard: the correct number for the governor's office is: 916-445-2841

Phone recording will ask if you want this message in English:
Yes, press 1

Is this in regards to a legislation bill? Yes, press 2

Is the bill SB 1437 ? Yes, press 1

Are you in favor of this legislation? No, press 2

That's all you have to do. Email this to as many people as you know to do the same. Even if you home school your own children, this would be a devastating blow to our community if it passes.

ACLU Wants to Remove ALL Crosses from Federal Cemeteries

July 3, 2006

Don't Let The ACLU Remove The Crosses From Federal Cemeteries

The ACLU is currently trying to remove a cross from Mount Soledad National War Memorial in San Diego. In fact, an activist judge has already ordered the city to remove the cross from the memorial or face a fine of $5,000 per day. That case, now 17 years old, is still being fought in court.

If the ACLU wins, it will mean that every cross in every federal or state cemetery will eventually be removed. Don't let it happen! Under Section Three, Article Two of the U.S. Constitution Congress can pass a law prohibiting federal judges from having any jurisdiction over federal cemeteries.

If the ACLU is allowed to pursue this anti-Christian bigotry unchecked, the 9000 white crosses at Normandy Beach could soon disappear. The words on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington will be open for removal: "Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God."

Take Action

Please ask your Senators to sponsor a law protecting the crosses in all federal cemeteries and use Article Three, Section Two to remove jurisdiction from federal judges.

Send your letter today! It will go directly to your two U.S. Senators and President Bush. And please forward this to others as we honor our heroes who have given so much so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have.
