Call on SB 1437 - the School Instruction Prohibition of Discriminatory

This is so important! Just follow the instructions at the bottom of the email.

This is called SB 1437 the School Instruction Prohibition of Discriminatory Content Bill.

Here is what Capitol Resources says.

Capitol Update
SB 1437 - a bill that would require history and social science textbooks to highlight and promote homosexual and transsexual historical figures -
passed the state Senate by only two votes.

One of the main arguments offered by supporters of SB 1437 is that "more
'role models' could help reduce the social estrangement and high suicide
rates of gay and lesbian students."

The ironic thing about SB 1437 is that California public school students
are not currently required to learn about such important historical figures
such as George Washington or Thomas Jefferson. Nor are they required to learn any details of the Civil War.

If SB 1437 passes, however, young students will be required to learn about
the sex lives of extremely peripheral, unimportant persons throughout our
history.

All: I just made this call - it's exactly as described in the directions.
Easy and something we should take the time to do. Thx. Cathy

How You Can Help Save Marriages ...

Monday, June 19, 2006

ProtectMarriage.com Coalition Members:

It is our hope that these updates will keep you informed on matters of marriage in California, across the nation and around the world. Of note:

Federal Marriage Amendment supporters vow to continue despite the U.S. Senate voting to not place a Federal Marriage Amendment before the voters. The U.S. House of representatives is expected to vote on their own version in July.

Great news - Voters like those in Alabama and elected representatives in Pennsylvania, are overwhelmingly deciding to protect marriage.

Below is a summary of what we have seen in the media and the public policy arena over the past weeks. Each entry has a link to additional information or articles.

IN CALIFORNIA

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is to headline a dinner to benefit Republicans who promote homosexuality. The group, known as Log Cabin Republicans (LCR), will hold the event on Thursday, June 29th in Hollywood. California. Read Log Cabin Republican website. Supporters of LCR include Pfizer, JPMorganChase and Astra Zeneca.

Prop 22 is about to be heard before the State Appeals Court. Regardless of the outcome, which should be decided no later than this fall, experts anticipate that the case will go before the California State Supreme court. A final decision may not occur until spring of 2007.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's attempt to take over the Los Angeles public schools is in serious jeopardy in the Legislature, according to one leading Democrat who urged the mayor Thursday to intervene in hopes of salvaging his plan. Angelides Wins California Primary, Republicans Keep House Seat

...Former congressman Brian Bilbray won a special election to keep a U.S. House seat in Southern California in Republican hands, as a massive infusion of party resources and money overcame voter dissatisfaction with congressional corruption scandals.

June 7 (Bloomberg) -- State Treasurer Phil Angelides won California's Democratic gubernatorial primary and will take on Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in a battle over taxes, school funding and environmental policy this November.

Angelides, 52, a multimillionaire former land developer, defeated state Controller Steve Westly, 49, an ex-EBay Inc. executive, by 48 percent to 44 percent in yesterday's primary with 82 percent of voting precincts counted. Westly pumped $27 million of his own money into his failed bid. Schwarzenegger, 58, with no major Republican opposition, took 90 percent of the vote in his primary.

Though Democratic voters outnumber Republicans by 43 percent to 34 percent, incumbents and Republicans both historically have an advantage in California governor's races, and Schwarzenegger's popularity is reviving after hitting bottom in 2005, polls show. The winner on Nov. 7 may be decided by voters who don't identify with either party. Read More & "Pray the News"
